About the Role
The Supervising Attendant Guard supervises reporting personnel, performs typical Attendant Guard duties, and enforces the rules and regulations of the New York Botanical Garden. This role responds to and implements emergency procedures, notifies NYBG staff when necessary, and assists in training and orienting new staff.
Responsibilities
- Supervise attendant guards and other appropriate personnel; prepares and implements personnel post assignments
- Assist in the orientation and training of security personnel
- Report inappropriate behavior of personnel to superiors and prepare related documentation
- Implement emergency procedures, provide first aid, and notify appropriate Garden staff, 911, and/or authorities when necessary
- Respond to all emergencies and calls for assistance, providing first aid and notifying 911 and/or authorities when necessary
- Respond to calls of disorderly conduct, suspicious persons, and trespassers, evicting such individuals and notifying the authorities when necessary
- Enforce NYBG policies and procedures
- Prepare all necessary reports and complete required forms
- May be assigned tasks usually performed by reporting personnel
- Assist visitors, staff, and students with reasonable requests
Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in all types of weather
- Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Security Guard License from the Division of Licensing Services
- Must possess and maintain a valid Indoor Place of Assembly F-03 Certificate of Fitness or be able to successfully receive the required Certificate of Fitness within the first 90 days of employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment F-01 Certificate of Fitness or be able to successfully receive the required Certificate of Fitness within the first 90 days of employment
- Must possess and maintain a valid Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems S-95 Certificate of Fitness or be able to successfully receive the required Certificate of Fitness within the first 90 days of employment

- 4+ years of full-time security experience or related work

- High School Diploma or G.E.D required
