About the Role

The Occupational Health Nurse is an integral member of the site EHS Team, primarily responsible for managing site Occupational Health duties and associated programs. This role provides subject matter expertise and leadership for developing, implementing, and maintaining a high-performing Occupational Health system. The focus is on treating work-related illnesses and injuries and protecting employees from occupational hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and maintain the medical monitoring program for assigned location.
  • Maintain operational compliance with standing physician orders for assigned locations.
  • Manage, coordinate, and direct care provided by assigned medical provider staff.
  • Serve as leader and/or subject matter expert for EHS policy and program development, improvement, and updates.
  • Serve on the leadership team for the emergency response system and provide leadership for medical response capabilities.
  • Assist and develop/implement procedures to improve medical response capability at each location.
  • Maintain the medical facility and ensure security of medical records in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
  • Serve in an advanced leadership capacity for Emergency Response teams, leading medical response and team activity.
  • Maintain Spirometry and Audiometric testing for the medical staff of assigned locations.
  • Maintain injury treatment and diagnosis information, assist EHS with OSHA log record keeping and monthly reports.
  • Maintain current CPR/FA/AED/BBP certification.
  • Oversee contract medical assistance, including physician scheduling, interaction, nursing support, and communications.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with accident and health hazards common to the facility and safety equipment.
  • Plan and work within acceptable/approved budgets, maintaining appropriate equipment and supplies.
  • Disseminate health education information and advise employees and management on occupational health practices.
  • Maintain medical records, ensuring confidentiality according to enterprise policy and procedures.
  • Serve as an active member of the site ergonomics team and a participant of the potent compound team.
  • Attend a minimum of 25 hours of seminars per year for career growth and to stay updated on professional changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

Requirements

  • Course completion in Practical Nursing or a related field is required (preferred).
  • Current license as a registered nurse in the State of Practice is required (can be obtained).
  • Current LPN licensure.
  • Minimum of 8 to 12 years’ experience in Occupational Health, Emergency Care, or an Ambulatory Care facility.
  • Familiarity with DOT drug testing requirements, ADA, and Blood Borne Pathogens.
  • Trained in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
  • Current training in the administration of spirometry testing.
  • Current CAHOC Certification in Hearing Conservation required.
  • Ability to perform patient assessment.
  • Knowledge of professional Medical administration philosophies and strategies.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • A desire to develop others through coaching and facilitation.
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work with no onsite direct supervision.
  • Decisions are made without direct input from up line managers, based on experience, judgment, and understanding of regulatory requirements, management systems, and enterprise strategies.
  • Financial responsibilities include following assigned operating budgets, completing/approving expenditure reports, and providing input on necessary capital expenditures.
