About the Role
The Project Controls Scheduler will develop and maintain integrated EPC schedules on a portfolio of PV solar projects to maintain timely and profitable job completion. This role requires travel to jobsites in the region and may support projects in other regions depending on workload. The scheduler will coordinate with various business units including battery storage, high voltage, and business development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain EPC project schedules using P6 software based on realistic execution plans.
- Analyze project documents, design drawings, and contracts to understand requirements for schedule development.
- Perform quantity take-offs to establish accurate activity durations and maintain working files.
- Consult with engineering, procurement, project management, and field management teams for feedback.
- Seek feedback from stakeholders such as owners and consultants to improve schedule accuracy and buy-in.
- Ensure sound logic and realistic durations in schedules using CPM best practices.
- Attend project meetings to understand issues, get updates, and address schedule-related challenges.
- Update schedules at least twice a month to incorporate actuals, monitor deviations, and suggest corrective actions.
- Communicate schedule updates to the project team and senior scheduler.
- Maintain schedule reports in Teams and SharePoint folders.
- Maintain company standard delay log to document delays from business development to project completion.
- Record weather delays in P6 schedule and compare to NOAA normal weather monthly.
- Perform schedule analysis for what-if conditions, change orders, and claims.
- Train field personnel in scheduling procedures and assist them in maintaining and analyzing project schedules.
- Visit jobsites on a frequency that supports the scheduler’s position.
- Prepare “as built” schedules reflecting actual conditions and activity dates.
- Assist in maintaining the SOLV P6 database with accurate project/activity codes and file management.
- Support reporting efforts while maintaining core schedule structure and appropriate activity codes.
- Undertake any other initiatives or responsibilities assigned by the senior scheduler.
Requirements
- Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of project engineering or related experience.
- Experience in scheduling for construction projects specific to HV, Substations, or other electrical features.
- Prior Scheduling experience in an EPC environment is highly desired.
- Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
- Experience using P6 Software required.
- Knowledge of construction methods and processes.
- Construction-related scheduling experience using Critical Path Method.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including business writing and professional telephone manner.
- Reliability, dependability, and flexibility.
- Ability to travel to jobsites.
