About the Role

Nova Scotia Health is seeking an Orthopaedic Surgeon for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This role involves providing full-scope orthopaedic care, including emergency trauma call and a subspecialty focus on sports medicine and primary knee arthroplasty. The position offers the opportunity for medical teaching with Dalhousie University and is part of a group serving a large catchment area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full scope of practice as an Orthopaedic surgeon.
  • Care for patients within the Eastern Zone.
  • Participate in emergency trauma call.
  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care.
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Have medical teaching positions with Dalhousie University, should that be of interest.

Requirements

  • Royal College of Canada certification.
  • Eligible for license with College of Physician Surgeons Nova Scotia.
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
  • Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage.
  • Must live full-time in the community.
