About the Role
Operate diamond turning machines for complex, tight-tolerance production of low and high volume jobs. Train others as directed.
Responsibilities
- Operate diamond turning machines to manufacture mold nubbins and prototype lenses.
- Clean and visually inspect diamond turned lenses.
- Inspect lenses using metrology equipment.
- Record inspection data, labor hours and job information.
- Clean and maintain diamond turning machines.
- Perform diamond tool inspection and handling.
- Perform vacuum chuck mounting and machining.
- Perform spindle balancing.
- Perform diamond tool setup with multiple tools.
- Adjust machines and change program parameters to maintain lens tolerance.
- Machine diffractive surfaces.
- Work on special projects and related assignments when requested.
- Work in various areas of operations when necessary.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
Requirements
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.
Skills
- Good communication skills.
- Good team player.
Experience Level
- Minimum of 2 years experience in diamond turning field preferred.
