About the Role

Working from given instructions, this role involves loading programs into the controller, reviewing programs, and performing intermediate setup of machine tools through first piece inspection approval. Accountable for manufacturing complex parts and machine maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for manufacturing complex parts and machine maintenance.
  • Control product quality during production runs using calipers, dial bore gages, micrometers, etc.
  • Measure and work with tight tolerance in accordance with control plan and blueprint.
  • Manufacture product with tight tolerance in accordance with CAD models and blueprints.
  • Develop and machine basic fixtures with or without prints.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Change tools and offsets.
  • Work on special projects and various related assignments when requested.
  • Edit programs at machine when required.
  • Instruct other personnel on machine operation when requested.
  • Work in various areas of operations when necessary.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of proper machine operation and safety.
  • May work with prototypes for potential future work.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Knowledgeable on set-ups, lathes and mills.
  • Understand GD&T and shop math.
  • Ability to read and understand cad-cam software.
  • Familiar with G and M codes.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be a good team player.
