About the Role
This role is responsible for all shipping and receiving activities, management of finished goods, customer overrun inventory, and packaging supplies.
Responsibilities
- Forward daily customer shipping transactions and incoming packing lists to Accounting.
- Verify production quantities against customer order quantities and report shortages.
- Determine proper packaging for shipping parts to and from outside services, following work instructions to prevent damage.
- Review shipping carrier statements (UPS, Federal Express, Local Delivery Service) to control shipping expenses.
- Pull product ahead of ship date to ensure timely shipments.
- Review and close purchase orders for outside services and packing materials.
- Adjust overruns into inventory in a timely manner.
- Ensure accuracy of overrun and finished goods inventory.
- Verify information and quantities for non-stock or special order items.
- Ensure accurate shipping of all items, including proper containers, correct counts, and appropriate paperwork.
- Receive product, verify quantities in ERP system, and notify Purchasing of discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organized Shipping/Receiving area.
- Collaborate with Customer Service on daily shipping requirements.
- Work on special projects and related assignments when requested.
- Assist in various operational areas, including accounting cycle counts and year-end inventory when necessary.
- Compile various reports and track data.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Requirements
- Minimum two years of experience in Shipping/Receiving.
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook for communication with customers, vendors, and internal staff.
- Familiarity with custom software programs for freight vendors (UPS, Fed-Ex, etc.).
- Basic arithmetic skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations with limited standardization.
