About the Role

Support the objectives of the Public Realm Directorate and engage with the community on issues relating to recycling, street scene, and waste prevention. Provide information on collection schedules, encourage waste minimization, address local environmental issues, and signpost residents to relevant Council services. Work with other departments and stakeholders to deliver a communications program for the Public Realm directorate.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with the community on recycling, street scene, and waste prevention.
  • Conduct door-to-door visits, home visits, and engage in public spaces.
  • Promote recycling, waste prevention, and public realm initiatives.
  • Provide information on collection schedules.
  • Encourage waste minimization and responsible use of public spaces.
  • Address local environmental issues.
  • Signpost residents to relevant Council services.
  • Work with other Council departments, partner organizations, and key stakeholders.
  • Deliver a communications program for the Public Realm directorate.
  • Execute public engagement and communication activities through various channels.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of environmental issues, including sustainable management of environmental resources.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to engage confidently with diverse audiences through face-to-face interaction, presentations, discussions, and online communication.
  • IT literate and fully familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs.
  • Polite, professional, and helpful manner.
