About the Role
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while delivering courteous, professional, and responsible service. This role ensures compliance with alcohol regulations, maintains bar cleanliness and inventory standards, and contributes to an exceptional guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare drinks to order using proper portions and approved ingredients.
- Serve guests, cocktail servers, and dining room staff in a timely and professional manner.
- Operate cash register, handle transactions accurately, and maintain records of cash handling.
- Requisition and stock bar supplies including liquor, mixers, fruit, and glassware.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization behind the bar, including storage areas and equipment.
- Exercise portion control using approved pouring devices or measuring tools.
- Maintain professional control over guests and ensure responsible alcohol service.
- Comply with Alcohol Awareness and ABC regulations; assist with staff compliance as needed.
- Maintain positive guest relations through courteous and attentive service.
Requirements
- Knowledge of mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Understanding of applicable alcohol laws and Alcohol Awareness programs.
- Strong cash-handling and basic math skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and coworkers.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires standing and walking for the duration of the shift.
- Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand motions.
- Regular exposure to water, glassware, bar equipment, and potential hazards such as cuts or slips.
- Ability to lift up to approximately 30 pounds.
