About the Role
The Clean Room Specialist performs precision cleaning, handling, inspection, assembly support, packaging, and contamination control of optical components and assemblies in a controlled clean room environment. This role ensures products meet stringent cleanliness, quality, and customer requirements while maintaining compliance with clean room protocols and company procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning of optical components using approved solvents, ultrasonic cleaners, DI water systems, and other cleaning equipment.
- Handle precision optical components using proper contamination control techniques.
- Inspect parts for cleanliness, cosmetic defects, and contamination using microscopes and inspection equipment.
- Package optical components in accordance with customer specifications and work instructions.
- Assemble simple optical and mechanical assemblies within the clean room.
- Follow all clean room gowning and contamination control procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clean room and workstations.
- Complete required production documentation and quality records accurately.
- Assist Quality Assurance with inspections and documentation as needed.
- Identify and report product defects, equipment issues, or process concerns.
- Follow all ESD, FOD, ISO, and safety procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput.
- Support cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a clean room, medical device, semiconductor, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience handling delicate optical components is highly desirable.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to follow written work instructions and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of clean room protocols and contamination control.
- Ability to use microscopes and precision inspection equipment.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- Ability to recognize cosmetic defects and contamination.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Good vision, including close visual acuity (corrective lenses acceptable).
- Ability to wear clean room garments, gloves, masks, and other required PPE for extended periods.
