About the Role
Waltham Forest is launching its first dedicated Crematorium Service to enhance support for residents during sensitive life events. This new service requires a team that embodies compassion, professionalism, and care. Nine new roles are being created for this service. Please note, this role does not offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship; candidates must possess existing UK work authorization.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the Cremation Acts and Regulations, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Health and Safety at Work Act, Local Authorities Cemeteries Order, and all other relevant legislation.
- Operate cremators safely and ensure ashes are correctly identified.
- Handle remains respectfully.
- Maintain equipment to statutory standards.
- Act as Chapel Attendant, preparing the Chapel to the highest standards for each group of mourners.
- Assist clergy and officiants during services if required.
- Deal with distressed mourners.
Requirements
- Ability to use and maintain technically complex equipment.
- Ability to write and compile reports, correspondence, and calculations.
- Ability to carry out assessments.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Possession of a suitable driver's license.
- Fluent English speaking ability with confidence and accuracy for effective role performance.
- Must already hold a form of UK work authorization that does not require sponsorship.
