About the Role
KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) is seeking a Construction Community Liaison (CCL) to work within dual-reporting and cross-functional teams. The CCL will coordinate stakeholder engagement, report on outreach efforts, mitigate community-driven project impacts, and develop outreach materials. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth project progression and effective communication between the project team and the community.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement with the Outreach Coordinator.
- Sign in the attendance log at the field office according to assigned work hours.
- Report specific outreach efforts related to construction activities at the site.
- Work closely with the REI consultant, GC, and DDC in-house staff daily.
- Mitigate impacts of community-driven project-related issues and keep the project moving forward.
- Follow protocols for advance notifications and meet all expected deliverables.
- Develop outreach materials.
- Attend various meetings, presentations, and trainings during the project duration.
- Engage in ongoing communication with OCON to ensure protocols and procedures are followed.
- Perform an analysis of potential project impacts on schools, businesses, residents, and community organizations.
- Develop project data collection by conducting door-to-door surveys and meetings with Civics and Community Boards.
- Send advisories to update the community of any modifications to the schedule or locations.
- Keep a record of minutes for all Community Board, Task Force/Stakeholder, and other meetings attended.
- Actively participate in professional development and training and licensing.
Requirements
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Thorough knowledge of construction processes.
- Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- Ability to navigate company internet-based systems.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks, including walking rough terrain and climbing ladders.
- Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example.
- Professional experience in public relations, politics, journalism, communications, or advocacy.
- Understanding of construction and local city government.
- Detailed oriented and reliable.
- High-level interpersonal, diplomacy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with a wide range of constituencies and diverse communities.
- Ability to address sensitive and complex questions.
- Ability to handle conflict.
- Ability to manage various tasks.
- Ability to navigate intergovernmental relations and community engagement.
- Ability to communicate concisely and effectively across internal and external stakeholder communities.
- Candidates may be required to attend meetings after normal business hours.
- Computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
- A valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s license is essential.
- Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs of NYC.
- Ability to travel regularly to construction sites, community meetings, and stakeholder events.
- Ability to walk active construction sites over uneven terrain and navigate stairs, ladders, or temporary access points.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during site visits, inspections, and public meetings.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials, equipment, or presentation supplies up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, and work boots, when visiting construction sites.
- Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required, depending on project location.
