About the Role

The Family Specialist is responsible for coordinating therapeutic activities for youth and families, enabling them to live safely, productively, and independently within their home community.

Responsibilities

• Maintains positive partnership with referring agency, coordinating required services for youth and families, and maintaining timely and effective communication regarding case activities.
• Assists with providing crisis intervention services for youth experiencing acute distress and dysfunctional behaviors to address safety concerns.
• Provides supportive casework counseling to youth and families, including all assessments, treatment, and discharge plans.
• Coordinates psycho-educational groups as needed.
• Schedules and ensures youth’s home visits are goal-oriented and work toward building trust, communication, and healthy relationships.
• Facilitates comprehensive treatment reviews according to agency and state regulations.
• Completes all state-mandated and agency documentation according to policy and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field required. MSW preferred.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working with diverse youth and families.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including night and weekend hours as necessary.
• Must have a current and valid driver's license with acceptable driving history to the Agency.
• Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse populations.

Skills

• Ability to handle crisis intervention in a solution-focused manner.
• Communication skills including written, verbal, and listening skills.
