About the Role
Prepare herbarium specimens in a standard, archival process, exercising judgment to handle a wide variety of specimens and occasionally participating in public outreach.
Responsibilities
- Prepare scientific plant specimens in the final step of their preservation process by gluing and sewing them to herbarium paper.
- Repair existing herbarium specimens by re-gluing and sewing onto paper.
- Occasionally participate in public outreach by giving demonstrations of the specimen preparation process to visitors.
Requirements
- Capable of delivering accurate and efficient work.
- Excellent eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to work in a stationary position and stand and sit for extended periods while using fine motor skills with hands.
- Ability to lift and carry glue supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
