About the Role
The Senior Claims Advocate, Property & Casualty is an experienced claims advocacy professional responsible for handling a portfolio of P&C claims on behalf of HUB International Northeast's clients. This role requires solid knowledge of insurance coverages, the ability to analyze policy language, and confidence in engaging carriers on coverage positions. The Senior Claims Advocate partners closely with Account Executives, producers, and clients to deliver responsive, high-quality claims advocacy that supports client retention and reinforces HUB's value proposition.
Responsibilities
- Handle a portfolio of P&C claims across General Liability, Property, and Auto lines, advocating on behalf of clients from initial notice through resolution.
- Review carrier coverage positions, reservation-of-rights letters, and disclaimers; draft rebuttals and appeals grounded in policy language, case law, and industry standards, escalating the most complex matters to the AVP as appropriate.
- Monitor claims activity, maintain accurate and up-to-date diary entries in Epic, and ensure timely follow-up on all open matters to drive claims toward favorable outcomes.
- Identify potential E&O exposure situations and escalate promptly to the AVP and, when warranted, the Office of General Counsel in accordance with internal protocols.
- Coordinate with carrier adjusters, defense counsel, and third-party administrators to ensure claims are being handled in the client's best interest.
- Serve as a day-to-day claims contact for assigned clients, delivering responsive, empathetic, and professional service consistent with HUB's commitment to client advocacy.
- Build productive working relationships with carrier claim adjusters, supervisors, and key partner contacts.
- Participate in PRISM calls, quarterly claim reviews, and renewal strategy meetings, providing claims intelligence that supports the marketing and account teams in securing favorable terms.
- Support the administration of Special Handling Instructions (SHIs) for self-insured/captive (SCM) accounts and coordinate with carriers and TPAs on claims handling protocols.
- Collaborate with Account Executives, producers, and internal departments to share claims insights, resolve issues, and strengthen overall client service delivery.
- Engage across practice groups—including specialty lines, healthcare, and professional/executive risk—to support matters that implicate multiple coverage lines.
- Contribute timely and accurate updates to the claims dashboard, successful results log, and other management reporting tools.
- Participate in internal training initiatives and share educational opportunities and knowledge with team members.
- Serve as a resource to junior claims advocates and analysts on routine coverage questions and claim-handling best practices.
- Support claims leadership with operational initiatives, including Smartsheet workflows and claims review standardization.
- Assist with claim file audits as directed to help maintain quality, accuracy, and compliance with HUB's claims advocacy standards.
