About the Role
Oversee a portfolio of structured loans and lines of credit to real estate owners and developers, managing underwriting, structuring, and asset management. This role involves managing internal and external stakeholders, crossing platforms and departments, and providing managerial oversight to a team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee underwriting and structuring of new loan opportunities.
- Oversee ongoing asset management of the loan portfolio.
- Lead, manage, and develop the team.
- Proactively monitor and manage ongoing risks in the portfolio.
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders.
- Enhance existing policies, procedures, and tools.
- Underwrite new loan opportunities.
- Manage borrower relationships for a portfolio of secured and unsecured loans.
- Set up and maintain detailed loan files for tracking funding, disbursements, and repayments.
- Monitor collateral structures, including pledges of ownership, cash flow, developer fee, and business assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of quarterly financial analysis, loan grading, and covenant testing.
- Conduct credit analysis for loan extensions and modifications.
- Participate in Loan Review Memo presentation calls.
- Evaluate the sufficiency of risk rating methodology.
- Provide input on team infrastructure, technology platforms, policies/procedures, and staffing plans.
- Escalate issues on deals through the monthly Escalation Meeting.
- Present issues to Credit Committee and executive management team.
- Assist with determining best practices for a growing product offering.
- Provide feedback on resource and technology needs.
- Collaborate with other departments, including underwriting, originations, legal, and closing.
- Lead special projects upon request.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience structuring, underwriting, or managing secured and unsecured structured loans, including real estate mortgages.
- Prior asset management and underwriting experience required.
- Organized, detailed-oriented approach to work.
