About the Role

Humber River Health is seeking a Full-Time Clerical Support Associate to join their Oncology team. This role involves providing essential clerical support in a fully digital hospital environment, focusing on patient registration, appointment management, and record maintenance. The position emphasizes using technology and clinical expertise to improve patient care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support including patient registration, booking/editing of appointments, and maintenance of patient records.
  • Complete messages and tasks using the Meditech Oncology module system.
  • Deliver customer service, including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and greeting patients and visitors.
  • Communicate registration information with internal and external departments to facilitate appointments.
  • Support care team members in data collection processes for Ontario Health Cancer Care Ontario.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year full-time equivalent recent clerical experience, preferably in an ambulatory oncology setting.
  • Good keyboarding skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 WPM.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize a varied and busy workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to cope with tight deadlines, frequent interruptions, and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required.
  • Applicants may be required to successfully complete full administrative testing, including typing speed and MS Office.
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
  • Knowledge of a second language is an asset.
  • Completion of a Community College Medical Secretary Diploma is an asset.
  • Completion of a medical terminology course is preferred.
  • Meditech’s Oncology Module and Community Wide Scheduling experience is preferred.
