About the Role
The BMET Cybersecurity Specialist leads the technical execution of the medical device cybersecurity program, ensuring that all network‑connected clinical technologies are inventoried, assessed, protected, and remediated in alignment with hospital, regulatory, and enterprise cybersecurity standards. This role serves as the technical authority for cybersecurity controls on medical devices, evaluates emerging threats, and provides strategic recommendations to strengthen the organization’s security posture.
Responsibilities
- Lead the collection of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) in CMMS
- Supports a range of IT projects that have implications for medical devices on the network
- Lead the coordination of cybersecurity activities with device manufacturers as needed
- Oversee the investigation of alerts on medical devices in the hospital and clinics
- Lead collection of manufacturer documentation and cybersecurity recommendations
- Support HTM cybersecurity education & awareness for HTM teams
- Coach BMETs on basic cybersecurity hygiene and out of the box controls
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of functional experience
- Experience in HTM, medical device support, or healthcare cybersecurity preferred.
- Knowledge of medical device networking, cybersecurity controls, and vulnerability management.
