About the Role

Farm Credit East (FCE) is seeking a customer-focused Loan Officer to manage relationships with existing and prospective borrowers. This role involves delivering a personalized experience, employing a proactive approach, and aligning customer service with customer segmentation to exceed borrower expectations. The role drives portfolio growth through value-added interactions and community presence, and cements customer relationships with a consultative lending approach.

Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day customer relationships within assigned customer segments (Agribusiness or Retail).
  • Performs proactive portfolio management by analyzing industry trends, market data, and customer knowledge to apply a consultative lending approach.
  • Serves as the lead for all customer-facing activities, positioning a team approach with support from loan coordinators or financial services.
  • Creates and maintains a documented 360-degree view of the customer in the core application to maximize customer experience.
  • Collaborates with teammates to generate cross-selling results and a best-in-class customer experience.
  • Provides functional guidance to credit analysts, loan documentation specialists, and other roles to ensure customer requirements are met while conforming to credit policy.
  • Monitors borrowers within the assigned loan portfolio to document compliance with terms, conditions, covenants, inspections, credit quality, and risk assessment.
  • Meets with existing and prospective customers to review financials, propose loan structures, evaluate pricing options, and address borrower objectives.
  • Achieves growth targets by performing business development activities to expand existing customer relationships and attract new customers.
  • Seeks and vets traditional and non-traditional opportunities across the agricultural value chain for credit-worthy and eligible clients.
  • Prioritizes high value-add interactions with customers through active relationships and sound customer understanding.
  • Promotes the FCE brand within their region.
  • Builds and nurtures Centers of Influence (community presence, network, and external partners) to generate new referrals.
  • Utilizes the 360-degree customer view to drive cross-selling opportunities, including identifying, collaborating, generating, or acting upon internal referrals.
  • Develops expertise and working knowledge within Ag segments to serve as a Trusted Advisor.
  • Adopts and utilizes new processes, procedures, and digital tools to deliver a high-level customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of agriculture, finance, and credit administration is preferred.
  • Strong marketing and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must be team-oriented.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Salary/Compensations

  • $75,000 - $105,000
