About the Role
This role is part of Ofcom's Infrastructure & Connectivity Group, focused on advancing a better-connected UK by promoting competition and investment in regulated industries, and ensuring secure and resilient communications networks. The role involves developing and implementing policy to benefit consumers of post, broadband, mobile, and other digital communications services, with opportunities to manage key policy projects, analyze complex problems, and collaborate with specialists.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of different project teams, leading the delivery of a workstream or an aspect of the project.
- Support policy leads in driving overall progress of the project.
- Gather and analyze evidence, engaging with stakeholders to understand their views and summarize for colleagues.
- Contribute to policy development and group discussions, presenting analysis and collaborating with specialist colleagues to develop policy options.
- Produce internal documents to support policymaking and draft parts of published documents.
- Produce high-quality written material tailored to different audiences.
- Collate information from a range of different sources.
- Communicate legal, economic, and technical information clearly.
Requirements
- Some experience of policy or strategy development, including gathering and analyzing information from a range of sources.
- Drafting clear policy documents or recommendations.
- Assessing options and impacts.
- Using evidence to support decision making.
- Ability to convey information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Active listening, contributing to team discussions and ensuring messages are understood.
- Experience of, and a willingness to develop skills in, producing well-presented written documents and other materials in plain English.
- Ability to gather and interpret qualitative and quantitative information from a range of sources.
- Using logical approaches to evidence-gathering and analysis.
