About the Role

The Production Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating a plant's manufacturing operations or multiple department operations to meet cost, profit, and productivity objectives. This role involves developing production schedules, coordinating activities, and forecasting inventory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate long and short-range business plans and goals.
  • Ensure proper management and safeguarding of all plant assets in the area of responsibility.
  • Staff assigned operations to meet production levels consistent with cost objectives.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained.
  • Supervise activities directly or through supervisors and lead operators.
  • Coach and develop subordinates, evaluate performance, and initiate corrective action as required.
  • Establish work center operation efficiency standards.
  • Monitor performance to established efficiency and quality standards and initiate corrective action as required.
  • Ensure performance reviews are conducted in accordance with policy.
  • Ensure yard conditions and housekeeping conform to Company standards.
  • Monitor expenses and initiate corrective action as required.
  • Analyze production operations and workflow and develop improvement recommendations.
  • Monitor output, cuts, yields, and scrap to ensure efficient resource utilization and initiate corrective action.
  • Manage inventory, ensure rotation according to policy, and participate in month-end inventory.
  • Ensure machinery is properly maintained.
  • Order supplies, initiate purchase orders, and approve timecards and incentives.
  • Manage finished goods packaging.
  • Prepare various reports and logs.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee process and ensure operations comply with Company and OSHA policies.
  • Ensure operations comply with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, and Company policy and procedure.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a production supervisor or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP’s organization, culture, and product lines.

Experience Level

  • Two years of experience as production supervisor or equivalent

Education Level

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent

Salary/Compensations

  • $75,000 - $95,000 annually dependent on experience
