About the Role

The Senior Statutory Reporting Accountant / Manager plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the Company's statutory financial reporting while helping enhance reporting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with talented professionals across Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Tax, and Reinsurance while helping shape and strengthen the Company's financial reporting processes within a growing and entrepreneurial property and casualty insurance organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and oversee statutory financial reporting activities.
  • Coordinate audit support.
  • Partner across the organization to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare and review quarterly, annual, and ad hoc statutory financial statements and regulatory filings for multiple insurance entities.
  • Ensure reporting complies with NAIC Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare supporting schedules, workpapers, and documentation supporting statutory financial reporting.
  • Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of statutory reporting data and disclosures.
  • Coordinate and support annual statutory audits and group audit activities.
  • Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
  • Assist with regulatory examinations, inquiries, and other compliance-related requests.
  • Research, interpret, and implement new statutory accounting guidance and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with Accounting, Actuarial, Tax, Reinsurance, and other business teams to gather information necessary for statutory reporting.
  • Collaborate across Finance to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness of financial information.
  • Support reporting initiatives related to new business, acquisitions, and organizational growth.
  • Identify opportunities to improve statutory reporting processes, internal controls, and documentation.
  • Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participate in special projects and other financial reporting initiatives as assigned.
  • Provide leadership on reporting initiatives and mentor less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of accounting, financial reporting, or statutory reporting experience.
  • Property & Casualty insurance statutory accounting experience required.
  • Experience preparing statutory financial statements and regulatory filings for insurance entities.
  • Experience supporting statutory audits and regulatory reporting activities.
  • Prior experience leading projects, improving reporting processes, or mentoring team members is preferred.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of NAIC Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Workday Financials and Sovos preferred.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity insurance environment preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive process improvements.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on enhancing reporting processes and internal controls.
