About the Role
The Arc Wayne is hiring entry-level Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to support adults with developmental disabilities in achieving their life goals. The role involves teaching, encouraging, and mentoring individuals to foster independence and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with daily living skills including housekeeping, cooking, hygiene, and medication administration.
- Build relationships with people with disabilities, understanding their individual differences.
- Work closely with Resident Team Members to implement Life Plans and provide positive behavior support.
- Collaborate with individuals to foster growth in personal goals while prioritizing health and safety.
- Transport individuals to medical appointments and community activities.
- Administer and chart medications accurately.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Valid NYS driver's license preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to physically assist individuals who use wheelchairs and/or walkers.
- Ability to foster teamwork.
- Basic computer literacy including use of email, internet and web-based programs.
