About the Role

As the first founding engineer, you will work directly with the CTO to transform the platform into a reliable, secure, and scalable enterprise-grade system. You will own backend and data engineering systems end-to-end, shaping architecture and eventually deploying production machine learning models to support contractual accuracy claims.

Responsibilities

• Harden the core pipeline against failure including timeouts, retries, and graceful degradation
• Build CI/CD, structured logging, and alerting systems
• Design and ship multi-tenant API authentication for enterprise clients
• Manage data engineering including ingestion, schema design, and geospatial queries
• Build automated testing and ground-truth benchmarking for accuracy claims
• Collaborate with design partners and enterprise clients during onboarding and integration
• Shape architecture decisions to meet enterprise security and data-protection standards

Requirements

• Strong backend fundamentals with the ability to evaluate and select appropriate API frameworks
• Proven experience shipping and operating a real product in production
• Experience carrying on-call, handling incidents, or owning system uptime
• Data engineering experience with pipelines, external data feeds, and database schema design
• Experience taking a deep learning model from prototype to production deployment
• Engineering discipline including testing, code review, secrets management, and error handling
• Fluent use of AI coding and agent tools while maintaining deep understanding of the codebase
