About the Role

AI Functions develops the functional software that shapes system behavior and directly influences customer perception of the product. This includes the functional areas of driving, parking, active safety, display, and in-cabin experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop AI models for motion prediction of traffic participants using large-scale datasets.
  • Implement C++ postprocessing modules, such as trajectory optimization and safety checks, to improve maneuver precision and safety.
  • Drive the transformation towards a fully AI-driven approach for all customer-oriented ADAS functions, replacing traditional rule-based logic.
  • Actively shape and support the transition to AI technologies and modern software architectures while ensuring timely series readiness.
  • Take responsibility for selecting, preparing, and validating high-quality datasets for training, testing, and evaluation to ensure robust and scalable model development.
  • Ensure team work quality by tracking and actively influencing key performance indicators, especially the proportion of successfully resolved scenarios, kilometers per takeover and per rule violation, and non-functional metrics regarding resource consumption, development speed, and development quality.
  • Ensure high-performance implementation of AI prediction models on the embedded vehicle platform, including consideration of quantization effects.
  • Maintain knowledge and technical responsibility for the team's codebase and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data flow and end-to-end integration across the entire software stack, adhering to safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of Python for AI model development and data science, ideally in the automotive or robotics sector.
  • Proven experience in embedded C++ development for safety-critical systems.
  • In-depth understanding of object prediction, trajectory planning, and postprocessing techniques, such as safety checks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all ADAS functions and functional safety standards, as well as experience in implementing ASIL-compliant software architectures.
  • Strong hands-on mentality with active contribution to shaping team architecture and sound knowledge and confident navigation within the team's codebase.
  • Solid knowledge of modern state-of-the-art technologies and willingness to critically question existing approaches and introduce new technologies, especially in the area of Transformer models and generative AI methods.
  • Experience in technical leadership of cross-functional teams with a focus on C++, AI/ML deployment, and data engineering.
  • Strong analytical skills and a clear understanding of defining, measuring, and actively influencing functional and non-functional KPIs.
  • High cooperation skills and experience in interdisciplinary collaboration at the interface of artificial intelligence, software development, functional safety, and behavioral modeling.
  • Passion for developing robust and reliable systems with high performance under complex real-world conditions.
