About the Role

Corpay is seeking a Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to lead the firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), sanctions, and financial crime framework. This role involves ensuring compliance with FCA requirements and managing financial crime risks associated with international payments and FX services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the SMF17 (Money Laundering Reporting Officer/MLRO) function and act as the firm's Nominated Officer.
  • Maintain compliance with FCA Handbook (SYSC, SUP, DEPP), Money Laundering Regulations, Proceeds of Crime Act, Terrorism Act, and UK Sanctions regime.
  • Manage compliance oversight of key Financial Crime Frameworks, including Customer Due Diligence, Transaction Monitoring, Payment Screening, Sanctions & Negative News Screening, SAR filing, and Record Keeping.
  • Provide regular MLRO reports to the Board and governance committees on financial crime risk, SAR activity, emerging risks, and framework effectiveness.
  • Own and refresh the firm's Financial Crime Risk Assessment.
  • Oversee the AML Monitoring Program, internal/external audits, FCA remediation actions, and regulatory inspections.
  • Oversee and assist with new client onboarding through KYC verification, advising on high-risk customers and recommending rejections where necessary.
  • Act as the Nominated Officer for SARs, assessing internal reports, determining disclosures to the National Crime Agency, maintaining records, and liaising with authorities.
  • Assist with designing and delivering financial crime training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Electronic Money Issuer registration requirements.
  • Manage a team of Compliance Analysts.
  • Lead financial crime engagement with the FCA, National Crime Agency, OFSI, and auditors.
  • Provide financial crime advice and approval for new products, services, and initiatives.
  • Monitor regulatory developments to ensure the financial crime program remains aligned with evolving expectations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of strong regulatory judgment and a risk-based approach.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to present complex financial crime matters to senior executives.
  • Experience leading compliance and financial crime teams.
  • Experience with AML technology and transaction monitoring systems.
  • Experience partnering with the business to support commercial growth while maintaining controls.
  • Significant experience (typically 7+ years) serving as an MLRO, Deputy MLRO, or senior financial crime leader within an FCA-regulated financial institution.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with the FCA, NCA, OFSI, and external auditors.
  • Strong knowledge of UK AML, sanctions, payment services, and financial crime regulations.
  • Experience overseeing transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, KYC, EDD, and SAR investigations.
  • Experience leading regulatory inspections and remediation programs.
  • Proven people leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Eligible to perform the SMF17 function, subject to FCA approval.
