About the Role

The Senior Legal Counsel, Employment will report to the Head of Legal, Employment and be part of a team of 5 senior legal counsel, and 3 legal counsel and paralegals. You will be responsible for providing high-quality, commercially focused legal support to the Partnership, with a particular focus on Employment Law. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Employment Lawyer to join a busy in-house legal team, advising on a broad range of employment law matters from restructurings and TUPE transfers to settlement agreements and legislative changes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive, solution-oriented, strategic advice on a wide range of non-contentious and contentious issues, adhering to laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Apply commercial understanding and strategic insight, developing in-depth knowledge of the business, sector, and commercial pressures.
  • Enable, spot, and drive connections across projects, matters, and teams to ensure consistency and foster a collaborative culture.
  • Develop and implement team processes and procedures for efficient and consistent legal advice delivery.
  • Support the Head of Legal and People teams with risk and budget reporting.
  • Ensure timely provision of legal expertise for strategic and operational projects, including managing external advice within budget.
  • Judge when to outsource advice and when to escalate matters, flagging potential data protection, competition law, and IP issues.

Requirements

  • UK qualified lawyer with significant employment law experience.
  • Proven track record of providing appropriate legal advice in various situations.
  • Confidence and credibility in working autonomously with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated excellent influencing skills.
  • Experience with organization change, redundancy, and TUPE.
  • Evidence of continuous improvement and a change mindset.
  • Sound understanding of the commercial environment and ability to provide commercial solutions.
  • Good relationship management skills internally and externally at all levels.
  • A demonstrable, proactive, commercial, and solutions-led approach to compliance.
