About the Role
As a Publicist, you will collaborate with account teams and clients in the lifestyle, travel, and retail sectors to execute end-to-end media and storytelling strategies. You will also provide consulting support for key campaigns and launches across the agency, developing strategy and ideas with cross-functional specialists to create award-winning proposals.
Responsibilities
- Work with account teams and clients on end-to-end media and storytelling strategies.
- Reach and engage audiences across a range of media channels.
- Support key campaigns and launches across the agency in a consulting capacity.
- Develop strategy and ideas with planners, creatives, social and influencer marketing specialists.
- Build story elements for cross-platform media.
- Upskill junior team members.
- Partner with junior team members to drive outcomes including media sell-ins, launch events, media hosting, and media famils.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in publicity or a heavily media relations-focused role.
- Strong understanding of the current modern media landscape in Australia.
- Strong, active network of Australian consumer media contacts, particularly across travel, lifestyle, and news verticals.
- Thorough understanding of what makes a compelling story.
- Experience pitching to regional and local community media, as well as major metro networks.
- Familiarity with pitching destination stories and coordinating press trips.
- Experience shaping value-driven retail news hooks.
- Comfortable with fast-paced retail calendars, celebrity and talent management, and driving foot traffic through event PR.
- Understanding of the interplay between earned media, social content, talent, and influencer partnerships.
- Ability to leverage ambassadors to secure editorial coverage.
- Passionate about the media and current culture.
- Great collaborator who loves to work with teams to build brilliant ideas.
- Persistent, results-oriented, and strive to deliver outcomes that align to communications and business goals.
