About the Role

The Footwear and Accessories Technologist will be based within the technical department, covering all products within the Fred Perry footwear and accessories range for men and women.

Responsibilities

• Advise on key component, measurement, and construction detailing for prototype sample production.
• Assess all samples during the early development stages, collaborating with designers and product developers.
• Update product packages with comments and feedback, providing technical instructions to the supply base.
• Own product from SMS stage to bulk production, including fitting and approval of graded size charts.
• Approve all fabric and trim testing.
• Maintain a technical sample tracker for product approval processes.
• Maintain a critical path from proto sample to bulk production in conjunction with product development and production planning teams.
• Assess, risk analyze, and manage new fabric and trim developments, as well as bulk fabric, prints, and trims.
• Review responsible and sustainable fabric and trim alternatives with product development teams.
• Review necessary certifications for responsibly sourced fabrics and trims and maintain their validity.
• Review base and bulk test reports for all fabrics and trims.
• Maintain legal and accurate fiber analysis for care labels and the fabric testing matrix.
• Liaise with 3rd party technical bodies to optimize support.
• Liaise with suppliers and factories during production to resolve technical issues and ensure shipment dates.
• Assess production/shipment samples for quality, labeling, and packaging requirements.
• Assess final AQL inspection reports and liaise with the production department to maintain ex-factory dates.
• Liaise with retail and distribution partners for product feedback and assess garment returns to improve future product development.
• Proactively seek to improve products and processes through analysis and improvement proposals.
• Monitor and maintain brand standards for colors, embroideries, and constructions across seasons.

Requirements

• Strong technical knowledge across a variety of footwear & accessories products.
• Good knowledge of construction and manufacturing methods.
• Working knowledge of REACH requirements, risk analysis, and product safety.
• Ability to communicate effectively across internal departments and external sources, adapting approach and style.
• Knowledge of fabric, lab testing, and assessment of results.
• Ability to work in a structured and timely manner under pressure within a team environment, meeting deadlines across multiple seasons and suppliers.
• Motivated to improve product at every stage and strive for the highest achievable quality.
• Confidence in decision making and problem solving.
• Experience with PLM & Interlink systems.
