About the Role

This role offers an opportunity to join a team at the forefront of NSW’s biosecurity response. As a Technical Assistant in Microbiology and Parasitology, you will handle a high volume of diagnostic specimens to support the early detection and timely diagnosis of diseases and pests impacting agriculture and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and test specimens in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet critical turnaround times.
  • Follow clear procedures while maintaining accuracy.
  • Use systems to track and record information reliably and efficiently.
  • Work closely with a supportive, purpose-driven team to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to work across multiple routine tasks.
  • Assist with maintaining an organised, safe, and compliant testing facility.

Requirements

  • A good understanding of procedures, quality standards, and safe work practices.
  • Confidence using systems and technology to maintain accurate records.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • A good level of accountability, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • A good customer focus and commitment to quality service delivery.
  • Qualifications in accordance with Part 2 (xiv) of the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award.
