About the Role
Universal Music Australia is seeking a motivated Assistant Accountant to join their Finance team, supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, compliance, and core accounting operations. This role involves a broad range of financial activities, including month-end reporting, statutory compliance, fixed assets, lease accounting, and tax support, while ensuring the integrity of financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Support the month-end close process, including trial balance postings, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting packs and annual financial statements.
- Prepare reporting and journals for joint ventures and subsidiary entities, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Manage fixed assets and lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16 requirements.
- Prepare monthly ARIA reporting, ensuring sales and revenue data is accurately compiled, validated, and reconciled.
- Assist with tax compliance activities, including BAS, FBT, income tax support, and tax journals.
- Support internal and external audit requirements, SOX controls, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Finance function.
Requirements
- 2–3 years' experience in financial accounting or reporting, ideally within a high-volume environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Progress towards your CA or CPA qualification (CA candidates should have completed at least 50% of exams).
- Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP, with strong Excel skills.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, fixed assets, lease accounting, and tax accounting principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- A proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
