About the Role

Universal Music Australia is seeking a motivated Assistant Accountant to join their Finance team, supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, compliance, and core accounting operations. This role involves a broad range of financial activities, including month-end reporting, statutory compliance, fixed assets, lease accounting, and tax support, while ensuring the integrity of financial reporting.

Responsibilities

Support the month-end close process, including trial balance postings, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting packs and annual financial statements.
Prepare reporting and journals for joint ventures and subsidiary entities, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
Manage fixed assets and lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16 requirements.
Prepare monthly ARIA reporting, ensuring sales and revenue data is accurately compiled, validated, and reconciled.
Assist with tax compliance activities, including BAS, FBT, income tax support, and tax journals.
Support internal and external audit requirements, SOX controls, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Finance function.

Requirements

2–3 years' experience in financial accounting or reporting, ideally within a high-volume environment.
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Progress towards your CA or CPA qualification (CA candidates should have completed at least 50% of exams).
Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP, with strong Excel skills.
Knowledge of financial reporting, fixed assets, lease accounting, and tax accounting principles.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
A proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
