About the Role

The Director of Construction Management Services reports to the Vice President of Construction and is responsible for overseeing construction management services throughout the New York City region. This position manages a portfolio of approximately five to ten concurrent projects with construction values ranging from $2 million to $50 million. The Director supervises Project Managers, Resident Engineers, Inspectors, and support personnel while providing oversight for project execution, staffing, client relationships, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Direct construction management operations throughout the New York City region.
  • Manage multiple concurrent construction projects from planning through completion.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, and overall project performance.
  • Serve as the executive point of contact for contractual issues and client concerns.
  • Develop staffing plans and coordinate resources across multiple projects.
  • Support business development activities and proposal preparation.
  • Lead meetings with clients, public agencies, and regulatory organizations.
  • Develop and mentor Project Managers, Resident Engineers, Inspectors, and construction staff.
  • Coordinate recruitment and retention efforts with Human Resources.
  • Review construction means and methods, constructability reviews, QA/QC programs, change orders, and claims.
  • Promote the use of construction technology where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, NYC Department of Buildings regulations, permitting requirements, and company safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related technical discipline REQUIRED
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Construction Management experience REQUIRED
  • Significant construction management experience delivering projects within New York City REQUIRED
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent construction projects REQUIRED
  • MEP systems experience REQUIRED
  • HVAC systems experience REQUIRED
  • Energy infrastructure experience REQUIRED
  • Building systems experience in occupied facilities REQUIRED
  • Design-Bid-Build experience REQUIRED
  • Design-Build experience REQUIRED
  • EPC project delivery experience REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of NYC permitting processes REQUIRED
  • OSHA Site Safety knowledge REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of NYC Department of Buildings regulations REQUIRED
  • Ability to travel throughout the New York City region REQUIRED
  • United States Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status REQUIRED
  • Master's Degree in a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Certification
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar construction project portfolios
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary construction management teams

  • $175,000-$200,000
