About the Role

The Azure Core New Tech team is seeking a Software Engineer II to automate the onboarding of new hardware for Microsoft datacenters, supporting Azure, High-Performance Computing, Office, and Edge Computing products. This role involves working at the intersection of software and hardware to validate, manage, and track hardware throughout its lifecycle, ensuring quality and security. The position offers an opportunity to grow skills in software and hardware by collaborating with various Azure teams and learning about emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Determine user requirements with stakeholders.
  • Drive identification of dependencies and development of design documents.
  • Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code for performance and maintainability.
  • Contribute to breaking down work items and provide estimations.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for on-call monitoring and system restoration for simple problems.
  • Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • 2+ years with demonstrated hands-on design, coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Education Level

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
