About the Role

The Housekeeping Intern assists the Housekeeping Manager in supervising housekeeping operations to ensure product quality standards and optimal guest service, aligning with hotel and company business objectives. This role involves inspecting rooms, training attendants, performing cleaning duties, and ensuring rooms meet brand standards for cleanliness and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients, managing according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
• Partner with the Housekeeping Manager to recruit, develop, manage, and monitor performance, making recommendations for HR actions.
• Inspect assigned suites and public areas for cleanliness and good repair, advising employees of deficiencies and providing retraining.
• Assist with training employees and ensuring they have the necessary tools and equipment.
• Assist with scheduling and room cleaning assignments for proper coverage.
• Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning guest suites and public spaces, to ensure guest satisfaction and owner expectations.
• Partner with the Housekeeping Manager to inventory and maintain par levels for linen and room supplies.
• Monitor commercial laundry supplies and equipment for sufficiency and working order.
• Manage procedures for lost and found items.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of housekeeping experience, including some supervisory training/experience.
• Previous background from the extended stay industry preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages are beneficial.
• Reading and writing abilities required for documentation, ordering supplies, receiving instructions, and reading equipment manuals/safety information.
• Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
• Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
• Experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
• Regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals.
• Carrying, lifting, or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
