About the Role

The Central Hardware Systems (CHS) PCB CAD team designs cutting-edge printed circuit boards across Qualcomm's most strategic platforms. As a PCB Designer, you will contribute to next-generation hardware development, working closely with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to deliver high-quality PCB designs from concept through fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document printed circuit board (PCB) layouts that conform to manufacturing and industry standards and Qualcomm design guidelines, using supplied schematics and electrical/mechanical design constraints
  • Develop PCB layouts that meet all project goals and requirements for a variety of 5G designs across multiple business units, including R&D, Mobile, Compute, IoT, Infrastructure, Automotive, and Test Equipment
  • Learn and develop proficiency with the PCB CAD tools utilized at Qualcomm: Siemens/Mentor Xpedition, Siemens Valor, Downstream Technologies Blueprint
  • Evaluate PCB design trade-offs necessary to meet design requirements and produce high-quality, cost-effective boards that meet project schedule objectives
  • Maintain technical coordination with Engineering and Manufacturing; resolve PCB design issues with fabrication and assembly vendors
  • Understand and apply PCB technology and process trends to Qualcomm designs
  • Communicate effectively with project peers and engineering personnel via e-mail and Teams meetings, including regular status reports and presentation slides
  • Understand project goals and individual contribution toward those goals

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience using CAD software tools to design PCBs for electronics packaging
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical constraint drawings
  • Experience with electronic file exchanges between PCB and mechanical software tools
  • Basic understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) requirements
