About the Role
As a Senior Real Estate Portfolio Manager for the New York, New Jersey, and Greater Boston regions, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of real estate activities—including planning, design, build/lease, operation, and maintenance—for Microsoft’s northeast portfolio. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver world-class workspaces and services, enabling employees to achieve their highest potential. This role drives strategic planning, optimizes portfolio performance, and ensures alignment with Microsoft’s global and regional goals.
Responsibilities
- Oversee delivery of real estate and facilities management services, leveraging third-party vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality outcomes.
- Drive multi-year planning for the region’s real estate portfolio, including strategy, business, financial and operational planning in alignment with global and regional goals.
- Ensure effective alignment and collaboration with supporting peer organizations such as Microsoft Digital, Procurement, Security, Finance, Legal Corporate Affairs and HR.
- Oversee and ensure successful delivery of RE&F services and projects with financial rigor and accountability, including capital planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Drive action and decisions, supported by analytical rigor and data, among clients and partner stakeholders by utilizing and facilitating an awareness of business needs and priorities.
- Establish and grow relationships with key business leaders and partners to understand business needs and deliver tailored real estate solutions.
- Proactively engage with clients and partners to solve problems, balancing specific client needs with broader Microsoft interests.
- Maintain communication and knowledge sharing with stakeholders, ensuring lessons learned and best practices are disseminated.
- Manage capital planning, forecasting, budgeting, and financial accountability for the portfolio.
- Drive continuous improvement in service quality, occupant satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, Microsoft policies, and controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Real Estate, Project Management, or related field, AND 5+ years relevant experience OR 7+ years equivalent experience.
- Experience in technology and corporate environments.
- Professional certification (e.g., MCR, CPM, CCIM, PMP) is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in real estate and facilities management, preferably within technology or corporate sectors.
- Ability to lead cross-functional projects to ensure regional and business alignment on key strategic initiatives.
- Negotiation and influencing skills.
- Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and financial analysis.
- Vendor management skills and performance oversight.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with business leaders, partners, and stakeholders.
- Presentation and influencing skills at senior levels.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, negotiations, and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Program and project management skills, including change management.
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills; ability to interpret complex documents and solve multifaceted problems.

- High customer service orientation and ability to drive solutions in a dynamic environment.

- Willingness to travel up to 35% of the time.

- USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year (U.S. typical base pay range)
- USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year (San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area)
