About the Role

As a Full Stack Engineer at HSBC, you will deliver and support client connectivity products/services end-to-end, flexing across activities as demand changes. You will treat production support as core, collaborate with stakeholders to shape product direction, and identify technical debt. The role emphasizes building reliability by design, ensuring safe change delivery, and participating in operational rituals. You will also create technical test plans, pair with teammates, communicate progress, drive CI/CD automation, and stay current on technologies and cyber security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize technical debt alongside new functionality to maintain a healthy, sustainable platform
  • Build reliability in by design by addressing non-functional requirements (performance, resilience, observability, recoverability)
  • Ensure safe, predictable change delivery through small, regular, non-breaking releases, plus release/change execution and operational acceptance
  • Participate in production support and operational rituals, including incident response, problem management, PIRs, retros and stand-ups; ensure root causes are fixed and improvements embedded
  • Create and maintain technical test plans and evidence, including automated unit and integration tests, to ensure code quality
  • Pair with teammates to deliver work and support others’ development
  • Communicate progress and learning through blogs/stories sharing outcomes and achievements
  • Drive CI/CD automation and continuous improvement within the DevOps product/service team
  • Stay current on tools/technologies and apply relevant cyber security and regulatory requirements (e.g., data privacy, consent, data residency)
  • Be self-motivated, able to learn quickly (including multiple programming languages) and perform with minimal supervision under pressure

Requirements

  • Full-stack DevOps experience across development, testing and production support.
  • Expertise and demonstratable experience in at least 2 programming languages (Java 21 or JavaScript) and handling multi-thread applications

  • Experience designing/consuming HTTP APIs (e.g., REST)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of secure engineering practices, automated testing, and monitoring/alerting with incident triage fundamentals
  • Strong collaboration and communication with a practical delivery mindset
