About the Role

The D.A. Collins Family of Companies has brought safety, quality and productivity to industrial, infrastructure, highway, and bridge construction for over 75 years. We are seeking a reliable individual for a position as a Superintendent - Bridge/Structures to join our dedicated and hard-working team.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and reinforce company safety policies
  • Lead field operations to ensure safety, quality and productivity
  • Coordinate forepersons and crews to ensure adequate staffing of jobs
  • Monitor and improve crew productions and understand goals
  • Meet with forepersons and crews to plan daily schedules and effectively communicate goals of project with forepersons
  • Communicate with owners, agencies and inspectors
  • Work with union BA's / Stewards to hire labor force and understand labor and union agreements
  • Oversee compliance with all safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Manage day-to-day operations of job site including material procurement, equipment use and laborer oversight
  • Monitor and ensure site safety controls and develop SSHASP in collaboration with safety department
  • Attend meetings and provide technical assistance
  • Perform a variety of tasks that will include having to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods of time, stretch, walk, climb, and bend under potentially adverse field conditions and be able to perform visual tasks such as back up spotting and be able to hear and react to back up alarms, per safety protocols.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in a bridge/heavy highway/marine construction field required
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' supervisory experience
  • Ability to adapt to and learn a variety of computer applications
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others and as a team
  • Must have proficient knowledge with NYSDOT and/or VAOT standard specification as it relates to construction
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and analyze job costs
  • Able to complete required duties in a fast-paced environment and within stated deadlines
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to report to work on time
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen

  • Superintendent I: $102,000-120,000
  • Superintendent II: $120,000-144,000
  • Superintendent III: $144,000-168,000
  • General Superintendent: $150,000-200,000
