About the Role
This role is within the Rolling Stock projects Team under the Fleet Maintenance branch of Sydney Trains, contributing to the testing and rollout of the New Regional Fleet (NRF). You will lead commissioning activities on board test trains, work with multiple stakeholders, ensure safe and efficient testing, monitor train performance, and develop testing briefs and plans.
Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning activities on board test trains
- Work with multiple stakeholders across different organisations for the Regional Rail Project
- Ensure each test is performed in a safe and efficient manner
- Confirm compliance with network rules and procedures
- Monitor train performance
- Verify that minimum operating standards are met
- Develop testing briefs and plans in preparation for a range of tests on various train subsystems
Requirements
- Experience in the rail industry
- Experience in rail operations/ train crewing, fleet maintenance or testing and commissioning
- Ability to successfully problem solve
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities under time constraints
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to conduct report writing
- Ability to review engineering documentation
- Ability to successfully engage with stakeholders
- Required to work shifts on a 24/7 rotating roster
- May be required to travel regionally and interstate
- Focus on testing in metropolitan Sydney but move to regional and interstate testing early to mid 2026
