About the Role
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is the field-based advocate of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, accountable for executing the field medical plan. They serve as the scientific point of contact for key opinion leaders (KOLs) in a territory, addressing medical, scientific, and research needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scientific expertise to translate data into an applicable knowledge and communication platform.
- Present and disseminate clinical and scientific data in a balanced manner to key opinion leaders and other healthcare professionals (HCPs).
- Build trusted relationships with KOLs and HCPs based on scientific credibility and clear engagement plans.
- Attend relevant scientific meetings/conferences and develop summaries of key data and insights.
- Gather and communicate insights from key individuals (KIs) to support and progress TA strategy.
- Lead or participate in medical and scientific forums involving KIs.
- Support investigator-initiated studies (IIS), local and global clinical development programs, and medical projects within the therapeutic area.
- Collaborate with and provide expert clinical support to business partners.
- Provide regional medical perspective to influence the Medical Affairs strategic plan.
- Support the Medical publication plan.
Requirements
- Advanced scientific degree required; PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred.
- Fluency in English (written, verbal) is required.
- Bilingual English and French is an asset.
- Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and/or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
- Previous experience as a Medical Science Liaison is preferred.
- Preferred background in Neuroscience therapeutic area.
- Ability to acquire expertise in other therapeutic areas and products.
- Previous experience establishing and engaging medical expert/opinion leader networks.
- Proven ability to learn quickly and distill large amounts of information.
- Experience in the presentation of scientific/clinical research publications.
- Ability to put data into perspective and communicate it concisely.
- Scientific curiosity and interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, project management skills, and ability to impact decision-making.
- Experience in managing clinical/scientific programs with a high degree of autonomy.
- Business acumen, including prioritization skills and big picture orientation.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and follow through in a field-based role.
- Strong knowledge of GCP, IMC code, and Healthcare Compliance policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with working in an environment guided by SOPs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to travel up to 70% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license and passport.
- Demonstrated commitment to learning emerging technologies, such as AI, preferred.
