About the Role

The VDC Specialist assists Estimating, BIM/VDC, Preconstruction, and Operations teams in implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) methodologies. This role proactively drives the adoption of BIM/VDC technologies on large-scale projects during pre-construction and estimating, while also supporting field operations for trade coordination. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of construction methods, processes, and BIM/VDC concepts, with the ability to adaptively implement BIM on projects. The VDC Specialist reports to the Regional VDC Manager and is a key member of the Preconstruction staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide Estimating, BIM & Preconstruction support throughout the Preconstruction process.
• Promote and understand Bartlett Cocke’s VDC processes and technology implementation.
• Assist with the production of estimates, quantity takeoffs, bid documents, and proposals.
• Engage project teams, designers, and subcontractors in BIM & Preconstruction processes.
• Assist Regional VDC Manager and project teams in developing BIM strategy and project-specific scope.
• Provide models and/or documents necessary to complete scope as determined with Regional VDC Manager.
• Facilitate BIM/MEP coordination and constructability reviews with the AE design team.
• Assist in creating and managing virtual mock-up exercises for quality assurance and quality control studies.
• Manage model coordination throughout the BIM/MEP coordination process.
• Assemble 3D content modeled by others and model any content not provided.
• Analyze models using Navisworks for clash detection and issue identification.
• Manage conflict/issue resolution throughout the BIM coordination process.
• Provide model management for 4D scheduling efforts.
• Provide layout integration support to operations for self-perform layout.
• Manage model changes due to updates and design changes.
• Assist Regional VDC Manager and Marketing with presentation materials.
• Respond to software issues by providing or facilitating software code changes or solution recommendations.
• Provide VDC software setup and support for project teams during precon and operations.
• Report status on outstanding issues and project progress to Regional BIM Manager and project team.

Requirements

• 2+ years of construction management experience (preferred).
• Project experience should include institutional, schools, higher education, healthcare & retail.
• Comfortable with using computers, the Internet, file sharing and collaboration platforms.
• Knowledge of and experience with CAD and Building Information Model (BIM) systems.
• Experience with estimating software: ISQFT, On-Center, Timberline, & MS Office.
• Knowledge of MEP coordination process, scheduling, facility management, programming and databases is a plus.
