About the Role
Relay is a digital banking platform seeking a Senior Data Engineer to scale its data ecosystem during a period of significant growth. This role is crucial for evolving the data and analytics stack, ensuring teams have timely and accurate data for informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain robust dbt models in Snowflake for reliable, privacy-preserving analysis.
- Own and evolve the systems and processes that underpin the data platform.
- Design and build systems for tracking core KPIs and ensuring data accuracy for all teams.
- Partner with stakeholders to build systems for tracking core KPIs and ensuring data accuracy.
- Work closely with Trust, Security, and Governance teams to ensure customer data safety through best-in-class security and compliance practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Data Engineering experience.
- Proficiency in SQL, including complex window functions, query optimization, and schema design.
- Fluency in Python, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, production-grade code.
- Hands-on experience with dbt, Dagster, Snowflake, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Experience with BI/data visualization tools (Looker, Metabase, Mode, etc.).
- Proven track record of extracting value from large, complex datasets.
- Ability to drive work independently, collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, and seek input when necessary.
- Understanding of applied statistics and ability to create quantitative models.
- Domain knowledge of Banking or SaaS analytics, including concepts like LTV, churn, and retention.
- Experience with streaming or microbatch analytics (Spark Streaming, Flink, Beam, etc.) and persistent event store design methodologies (AWS Kinesis, GCP PubSub, Apache Kafka, Apache Pulsar, etc.).
- Experience joining a company at its early stages and seeing it through scale.
