About the Role

As a Frontend Engineer III on our Design System team, you'll focus on building web components for our Design System and metadata-driven UI objects that power CrowdStrike's next-generation security platform. Our design system serves multiple engineering teams across the organization, powering critical security products that protect millions of users worldwide. In this role, you'll report to an Engineering Manager and work closely with other frontend engineers, UX architects, product designers, and QA engineers to ensure accuracy, consistency, and portability across our platform. You'll be a technical leader and subject matter expert, driving design system excellence while mentoring team members and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization. If you are passionate about building complex, data-driven user interfaces at enterprise scale with a focus on accessibility, developer experience, and design consistency, this role is perfect for you.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and scale our design system by developing production-grade web components based on Figma specifications using the Lit framework, ensuring they meet enterprise-scale requirements
  • Achieve and maintain near 100% test coverage using Playwright and modern testing frameworks, ensuring robust, bug-free components
  • Bake in accessibility (a11y), comprehensive theming (including Dark/Light/High-Contrast modes), and localization/internationalization (i18n) from the ground up
  • Optimize component performance and bundle size for production environments
  • Maintain and extend design tokens (CSS variables) to ensure coded components remain in sync with Figma design specifications
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to team members
  • Drive technical decision-making for component architecture and implementation patterns
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for engineering teams integrating with the design system
  • Collaborate with UX architects, product designers, and QA engineers to ensure components meet our design and engineering standards
  • Monitor integration support channels and provide timely technical assistance
  • Create and maintain comprehensive component documentation, including usage guidelines, API specifications, and integration examples
  • Proactively gather feedback from consuming teams and iterate on components to improve developer experience
  • Document patterns and best practices to enhance the overall developer experience
  • Provide short demos showcasing your work and new component capabilities
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and quality assurance
  • Participate in scrum ceremonies, team planning sessions, and roadmap reviews to ensure team alignment on short and long-term goals
  • Support multiple initiatives by providing essential UI components and UX patterns
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on design system best practices
