About the Role

The Morningstar DBRS ABS team seeks a Senior Analyst or Assistant Vice President to support rating activities for the ABS platform. This role involves analytical, operational, and regulatory tasks for assigning and monitoring ratings, developing methodologies, and publishing research. The position offers exposure to structured finance asset classes and opportunities to develop expertise in credit analysis, securitization, rating methodologies, and industry research within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data to identify trends, risks, and key rating considerations for rating analysis, methodology development, and research publications.
  • Prepare and support the development of rating committee materials, including quantitative analysis, written summaries, and presentation content.
  • Prepare public disclosure documents, including rating reports, press releases, and regulatory disclosures.
  • Support transaction analysis through data review, performance assessment, and other analytical activities.
  • Monitor industry developments, summarize market research and presentations, and share key insights with the ABS team.
  • Contribute to methodology development, research initiatives, and analytical projects across the ABS platform.
  • Support adherence to internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and rating process controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process enhancements, automation initiatives, and data-driven solutions.
  • Coordinate with analytical, operations, compliance, and technology functions to support rating, research, and reporting activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in structured finance, credit analysis, capital markets, financial services, research, data analytics, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze large datasets and communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
