About the Role

A Grinder operates electric or pneumatic hand grinders and other heavy manufacturing equipment to clean pre-welded, welded, and steel parts, adhering to all safety guidelines under the direction of manufacturing leaders.

Responsibilities

• Utilize 5-8lbs electric or pneumatic hand grinders to clean pre-welded parts, welded parts, and steel parts.
• May utilize a 40lbs magnetic drill to bore holes.
• Lift material and parts.
• Transfer and load parts to correct manufacturing department location.
• Assist team members with moving and handling parts, manually or by crane use.
• Perform other manual work including cleanup activities, garbage removal, facility painting, and snow removal when requested.
• Change consumables as needed and perform required safety inspections on equipment.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Actively participate in cross training and continuous improvement assignments.
• Work cooperatively with coworkers including training and knowledge sharing.
• Learn new skills, techniques and equipment operation as assigned.
• Maintain clean and organized work area conditions and comply with safety requirements.
• Receive direction from team lead and other designated leader.
• Perform work in a safe manner, complete all required safety inspections and adhere to safety rules and guidelines including safely operate crane and/or forklift if trained and assigned.
• Maintain conformance with safety rules and regulations.
• Address or make management aware of any safety related issues or concerns immediately.
• Be involved with continuous improvement efforts regarding all aspects of safety.
• May work overtime as production needs require.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to understand English language and be understood.
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
