About the Role

The Asset Manager oversees a portfolio of properties, focusing on driving performance and ensuring each asset aligns with its business plan. This role analyzes financial and market data to identify key drivers and areas for improvement while partnering with operations, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to provide insights on property performance, marketing strategy, and capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of a portfolio of assets
  • Conduct financial reporting and analysis to monitor property performance
  • Identify property-level and market trends to maximize asset value
  • Develop and maintain effective revenue strategies
  • Respond to inquiries from senior leadership and external partners regarding performance and market challenges
  • Partner with, assess, and performance manage operational teams
  • Conduct periodic site visits to evaluate market conditions and establish strategic initiatives
  • Review marketing programs and pricing for portfolio assets
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports for equity partners
  • Perform cash flow analysis and generate distribution recommendations
  • Monitor renovation and capital improvement projects and perform ROI calculations
  • Assist in preparing construction budgets and managing construction draws
  • Ensure compliance with loan agreements and manage loan administration
  • Provide analytical and operational support for acquisitions, recapitalizations, and dispositions
  • Oversee, train, and mentor Asset Management Analysts

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field (experience may substitute)
  • Five years of professional experience
  • Two years of prior multifamily asset management experience
  • Experience working with institutional ownership groups
  • Knowledge of real estate asset management principles
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Knowledge of real estate finance concepts including cash flow modeling, ROI, IRR, and cap rates
  • Knowledge of capital improvement planning, renovation processes, and construction budgeting
  • Ability to manage multiple assets, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets using quantitative methods
  • Ability to identify performance trends and recommend data-driven strategies
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to read documents and computer screens
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications
  • Must be able to lift or carry items up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment
  • Must work in Austin, Houston, or Chicago offices five days per week
  • Must be able to travel overnight quarterly
  • Successful completion of a background check
