About the Role
Waymo's Product Data Science team collaborates with Engineering, Product, and Operations to drive informed decisions using data. This role involves setting the vision for a team of Product Data Scientists, leading them to execute company vision at scale, and analyzing operational and vehicle data to enhance Waymo Driver performance.
Responsibilities
- Set the vision for a team of Product Data Scientists
- Lead the team to execute company vision at scale, owning all team outputs across optimizations, modeling, and data analysis
- Analyze operational and vehicle data to enhance Waymo Driver performance, support rapid geographic expansion, and maintain continuous freedom of operation
- Act as a key thought partner to senior leadership, aligning cross-functional stakeholders around a shared vision
- Manage the prioritization of team resources to effectively partner with key cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, operations, and strategy
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of team management experience
- 5+ years of experience with Machine Learning models and experimentations
- Statistical knowledge/data intuition
- Ability to structure and solve ambiguous problems
- Coding skills and experience: Python, SQL and Data science related coding experience
- Experience working with Product and Software Engineering teams
- Prior experience building and managing both Data Scientists and Data Analysts
- Marketplace business experience
