About the Role

Loan Originators will originate residential mortgage loans for purchase and refinancing within an assigned territory. This includes mortgage applications for home improvement and home equity lending, as well as other authorized loan types. Representatives will advise customers on loan program alternatives and place them in the most suitable program based on their financial needs and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Originate residential mortgage loans within an assigned territory.
  • Solicit mortgage applications for home improvement and home equity lending.
  • Advise loan customers on the risks and benefits of various loan program alternatives.
  • Place customers in the loan program most suitable to their needs and qualifications.
  • Solicit loan applications from prospective borrowers, real estate brokers and agents, builders, developers, attorneys, title insurance agencies, and other referral sources.
  • Regularly visit real estate brokers, agents, builders, developers, attorneys, title insurance agencies, and other entities to explain new mortgage products and maintain business relations.
  • Represent Ulster Savings Bank and its subsidiaries in the field and report on market changes and developments.
  • Develop new relationships with real estate brokers, attorneys, and financial planners to originate mortgage brokers.
  • Keep real estate brokers informed about mortgage applicant status, production numbers, and file outcomes.
  • Deliver quality applications to processing and underwriting.
  • Complete all necessary information for efficient customer service and use discretion in placing customers in the correct lending program.
  • Obtain all pertinent data concerning each loan application transaction.
  • Market the Bank's subsidiaries' products, such as casualty and property insurance, title insurance, and other financial services, to loan applicants.
  • Assist subsidiaries in delivering their products.
  • Maintain and submit complete records of all loan solicitations.
  • Complete rate locks and registrations accurately, timely, and in compliance with deadlines.
  • Follow and familiarize yourself with all policies and procedures outlined in the lending manual and by lending policies.
  • Attend all on-the-job or off-site training courses as requested by the Bank.
  • Abide and comply with all applicable federal and state lending laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Ulster Savings Bank.
  • Regularly visit and build relationships with local nonprofits.
  • Regularly visit and build relationships with local community groups.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years prior experience.
  • Must be registered with the NMLS and adhere to the requirements of the SAFE Act.
  • Ability to work independently and prospect new business within the market area.
  • Travel is essential.
  • Final candidates are subject to a pre-employment background check, which will include, but is not limited to credit history.

  • $34,200.00 - $135,000.00 Base+Commission/year
