About the Role

As a Principal Product Developer at Epicor, you will shape the technical direction of our products through expert software engineering, architectural leadership, and innovation. You will design and deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions while advancing AI-enabled capabilities to improve product functionality, automation, and user experiences. You will influence strategic technical decisions, mentor developers, and help establish engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, develop, and test complex software systems and enterprise applications.
  • Provide technical leadership for architecture, system design, code quality, scalability, reliability, performance, and security.
  • Design and support AI-enabled capabilities that improve product functionality, workflow automation, and customer experiences.
  • Partner closely with Product Management, QA, DevOps, Security, and Engineering teams to meet release, quality, and operational objectives.
  • Review technical designs and guide key engineering decisions across teams and initiatives.
  • Mentor senior developers and contribute to the growth and development of engineering talent.
  • Recommend and implement engineering best practices that improve maintainability, performance, software quality, and developer productivity.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, helping determine practical applications that support product innovation and business goals.
  • Drive modern software engineering approaches that support scalability, reliability, and long-term product success.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps and help define standards for enterprise-scale software development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience with a strong foundation in software architecture and system design.
  • 4+ years of specialized or industry experience.
  • Experience designing, building, and delivering enterprise-scale software products and platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of modern software development practices, object-oriented design principles, and scalable application architecture.
  • Strong understanding of AI-enabled software development, including Generative AI concepts, AI service integration, model and API consumption, and responsible AI practices.
  • Experience designing and delivering cloud-native solutions using AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, distributed systems, API design, and event-driven development patterns.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, DevOps or DevSecOps practices, and release automation.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and drive engineering excellence across teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
