About the Role
As a Training Manager within the Venture Global Ship Management (VGSM) team in London, you will play a key role in managing the training requirements for the company's owned and managed vessels, interacting closely with HSE, Marine, technical teams, and training departments.
Responsibilities
- Manage and develop training programs and professional development plans for seafarers in consultation with relevant departments and crewing providers.
- Collaborate with training providers to develop bespoke courses for onboard and training establishment settings.
- Maintain the Training and Certification Matrix for seafarers and shore-based personnel.
- Manage Computer Based Training programs.
- Conduct ship visits to review onboard training and progress.
- Evaluate post-training feedback and effectiveness, providing feedback to training providers and tracking improvements.
- Oversee crew managers to ensure alignment with training and compliance requirements.
- Monitor training outcomes and provide regular reports to management.
- Conduct internal audits of the VGSM training system.
- Visit and conduct audits of training facilities.
- Research and implement new training courses.
- Facilitate training workshops.
- Ensure in-house training materials are accurate and up-to-date.
- Organize and coordinate international officer seminars.
- Support seafarer recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Draft procedures, processes, and best practices for the training function.
- Ensure a culture of safety and excellence across training initiatives.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role within ship management providing learning and development for office personnel, seafarers, and cadets.
- Ability to maintain accurate record-keeping and generate comprehensive reports.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory (ISM/SPS/MLC) obligations and the ability to ensure compliance related to seafarer training.
- Efficiently manage tasks and priorities in a fast-paced and time-sensitive maritime environment.
- Maintain the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
- Competent user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to board an LNG tanker ship via gangway and/or Pilot ladder.
